The honest take

Greece is aggressively beautiful in a way that starts to feel personal. Islands that look photoshopped, ruins that recontextualise your entire sense of time, olive oil that ruins all other olive oil forever. Athens has gone through a genuine renaissance since the austerity era β€” cheap by Western European standards, with a food scene and nightlife that most cities twice its size would envy. The Digital Nomad Visa came online in 2021 and actually works, with a 7% flat income tax for the first seven years for those who qualify as non-doms. The bureaucracy is Greek β€” which is to say, it exists, it is Byzantine, and patience is not optional. The islands are worth it.
