Mexico
The culture, the food, the sunsets, the tacos — everything your therapist would recommend.
The honest take
Mexico City (CDMX) has quietly become one of the world's most interesting cities and is now hosting a wave of remote workers who've discovered that a world-class metropolis with excellent food, incredible art, and significant purchasing power parity is a compelling combination. Oaxaca is slower, more artisanal, and will make you want to make things with your hands. The Yucatán is sun, cenotes, and tourists who've given up the pretence of doing anything else. The Temporary Resident visa is straightforward for anyone with provable income. Spanish is strongly advisable — not because you can't get by without it, but because you'll miss about 90% of what's actually happening.
